Description
NASA/JSC has a requirement for one (1) digital microscopy system that will be used to support failure investigations on the primary life support system. This system will be used to analyze microscopic damage, corrosion, solder joints, etc. Image quality is of the utmost importance. Besides image quality, other technical requirements are: 1. The system must have a keyboard, mouse, and built in computer (PCU) and storage size. When closed dimensions should be approxmately 15?x5?x17?. The monitor must be a flat screen greater than or equal to 15 inches. 2. The camera must have a frame rate greater than or equal to 30 frames/sec. The camera electronic shutter must also have auto and manual selections. 3. The pixel count must be greater than or equal to 2 mega pixels in a small pen type camera. 4. The type of camera must be a wand that is no greater than 2? in OD. 5. The magnification requirements for fixed lenses are up to 3000x and have additional real time digital zoom. 6. The light requirement on end of lens illumination must be at least 10. 7. The total unit weight must be less than 10kg. 8. The system must have recording capabilities from a floppy disk and a high-density format like Super Disk; and an internal hard drive greater than 5 Gigabytes. 9. The interface must be USB and LAN and include any necessary software (10BASE-T). 10. The image must be JPEG or TIFF. 11. The system must be able to connect to computers (via something like Ethernet) and be portable so that it can be easily carried to different sites. 12. The system must have the ability to attach different sizes and types of lenses for different applications (e.g. small bores and contact lenses). 13. The system must be able to provide various high accuracy measurement functions. 14. The system must be able to perform its own digital image processing. 15. The system must be able to directly capture images digitally as opposed to performing a screen capture. i.e The specifications and drawings are linked above or may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= .
