- NA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District intends to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) to award one firm-fixed price contract to construct a new single-story 8,400 s.f. classroom addition to the West Point Elementary School, Building 705-A. Cons truction will be brick veneer to match existing, on concrete masonry units bearing walls. Additional structural steel framing supports a prefabricated cold-formed roof truss system, metal roof deck, roof insulation and sloped standing seam metal roof. Inte rior classrooms have painted concrete masonry walls, wood doors, carpeted classrooms and vinyl composition tiles in the corridors. The new addition will have separate student and faculty toilet rooms, in addition to toilet rooms, cabinetry and plumbing fix tures in the classrooms. A new, stand-alone heating, air conditioning and ventilation system will be installed in the new addition. The classrooms will have direct and indirect lighting and be fully sprinklered. Site improvements will include reconfigurati on of the existing parking and drop-off area between the Elementary and Middle School, the addition of an on grade parking lot and reconfiguration of associated access roads and pedestrian walk ways. This procurement shall be RESTRICTED to SBA certified 8( a) firms serviced by the New York, Syracuse, Buffalo, New Jersey and Philadelphia District Offices geographic coverage area only. The estimated construction value of the project is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The completion period is approxima tely 365 days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 236220 with a size standard of $28,500,000.00. Plans and Specification will be available on or about 15 August 2003. Bid Opening dat e is on or about 15 September 2003 at 1 P.M. Bid opening will be held in Room 1841 of 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY 10278. The media selected for the issuance of the Solicitation and Amendments shall solely be at the discretion of the Government; accordin gly, the media utilized for this project shall be the Internet and CD-ROM. Paper copies of this Solicitation, and Amendments, if any, will not be available or issued. Interested parties may download and print the Solicitation at no charge at http://www.nan .usace.army.mil (Contract and Bid). Project specification files and drawings are portable document files (PDF) and can be viewed, navigated, or printed using Adobe Acrobat reader. Minimum system requirements are 486-based personal computer, Microsoft Windo ws 3.1 or greater, 8mb application RAM. A registration page is attached to the website and prospective bidders are required to register and to receive notice of any amendments and/or addenda that may be issued to this solicitation. Utilization of the Inter net is the preferred method, however, CDs will be available upon written request stating the Solicitation Number, or Project Name, complete company name and street address.
