Maintained facilities include: five camping areas, three land preserves, and two trailheads. FM services vary widely, but include: Operator maintenance of heavy equipment (graders, dump trucks, bulldozers, backhoes, etc.), road grading and paving, hiking trail and off highway vehicle trail repairs; construction/maintenance/repair of water systems, bridges, signs, fences, culverts, weirs, reservoirs, publications kiosks, and campsite resources (outhouses, tables, parking areas, etc.); construction/maintenance/repair of buildings; removal of trash and abandoned property from managed areas; routine janitorial services within BLM maintained buildings; graffiti removal from maintained facilities and natural features; weed control on trails and managed sites (requires herbicide training/certification/use); water sampling and treatment; erosion control and remediation; maintenance and repair of government owned tools and equipment used in performing specified services. Knowledge of and compliance with the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and Endangered Species Act are key requirements for FM operations. Primary emphasis is on the safety of users of publicly owned resources, with enjoyment of use, and protection of resources and the environment as important goals. Covered FM operations involve work by two skilled positions, with a yearly average of over 1300 hours each on specified tasks. All equipment, tools, materials and supplies for FM will be Government furnished.
