- The project is identified as the Cultural Resource Inventory and Site Evaluation of the Proposed Moab Face Fuels Treatment Area. The objectives of this project are to conduct cultural resources inventory on an estimated 1,342 acres of National Forest System lands; identify and document historic and prehistoric cultural resources; and evaluate historic and prehistoric cultural resources for National Register eligibility. The lands in question are located in the La Sal Mountains unit (Moab vicinity) of the Moab-Monticello Ranger District, Manti-La Sal National Forest. To accomplish these objectives, the Contractor shall: 1) Conduct cultural resources inventory in accordance with a survey design that has been previously submitted to the Utah State Historic Preservation Officer and concurred upon; 2) Identify historic and prehistoric cultural resources; 3) Document historic and prehistoric cultural resources using accepted professional standards and Utah state site forms (IMACS); and, 4) make recommendations regarding site eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The survey design includes an estimated 985 acres of intensive (complete) survey coverage and 357 acres of sampling transects. The project?s Area of Potential Effect consists of widely scattered proposed fuels treatment units occurring in the area between Township 25 South, Range 23 East - Township 25 South, Range 24 East; and, Township 28 South - Range 23 East, Township 28 South ? Range 24 East, Salt Lake Meridian. The solicitation will be available on FedBiz on August 08, 2003.
