- Description
- The National Marine Fisheries Service has a requirement for a pilot study on fishing related activities and Environmental Justice issues in the Northeast. The purpose of this contract is to improve the existing data available on environmental justice issues related to the fishing industry in the Northeast using qualitative and quantitative methods. These data will be used to identify potential environmental justice areas and improve the current level of understanding of vulnerability and marginalization issues in the Northeast as related to fishing communities. The contractor shall carry out a literature review on environmental justice issues in the region focusing on issues specific to the fishing industry. The contractor shall carry out case studies in order to crosscheck and verify that assumptions made in determining an environmental justice index are in fact relevant. Any party interested in receiving a copy of the solicitation shall provide written notice to the Contracting Office. The solicitation document will be issued on or about August 8, 2003 in electronic format only. Fax requests to (757) 441-3786. Telephone requests will not be accepted. No contract award will be made on the basis of quotations received in response to this notice since this synopsis cannot be considered a Request for Quotation. All responses from responsible sources will be considered. This is a simplified acquisition with a value of less than $100,000. See Note 26.
