- Description
- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 7, is soliciting bids for Swanson River Road and Swan Lake Road Improvement Project. This project includes primarily rehabilitation, expansion, relocation or realignment of parking areas and access roads at about 15 locations along Swanson River Road and Swan Lake Road on the Kenai National WIldlife Refuge, Soldotna, Alaska. The roads and parking portion of the work includes clearing, excavation, geotextile fabric installation, backfill, and grading of several trailhead, boat launch, and campsite parking areas and access roads including traffic control devices (bollards, guardrails, parking bumpers, boulders used as traffic barriers, gates, traffic control signs, parking signs, information/identification signs (location names), and sanitary facilities (concrete comfort stations/outhouses/vault toilets and water well improvements). This is the large majority of the work. The secondary portion of the work includes renovation and improvements to campsites at four campgrounds (three along Swanson River Road and one along Swan Lake Road) including tent pads, fire rings, and picnic tables, rehabiliation of one boat launch; rehabilitation, relocation of four relatively short portions of existing trails including clearing, excavation, geotextile installation, backfilling, surfacing and grading, inset timber steps, one observation deck, all kiosks and all landscaping. The Construction Cost range will be between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. 20% Bid Guarantee will be required as well as Performance and Payment Bonds. The Solicitation issue date will be around July 29, 2003.
