Description
The US Geological Survey intends to award a purchase order to LI-COR Environmental Division of Lincoln NE for a LI-6400R Portable Fluorescence and Gas Exchange System Package and accessories. The LI-6400 will include P/Ns LI06400, 6400-40, 6400-01, 6400-02B, 9901-013, 3 ea 9964-037. Accessories include 6400-09, 6400-19, 6400-03 6400, 6400-70, assorted gaskets, nuts, bolts, and shipping. This system is required for field measurements of biological soil crust and plant photosynthesis and soil respiration. The system must be field portable and operate in harsh, extreme weather conditions. It must contain IRGA units at the chamber level in the leaf cuvette and soil respiration chamber. The system must allow automatic and independent variation of CO2, H2O, light intensity and temperature. It must be capable of simultaneous gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence measures under controlled conditions, and have on-board analysis software capable of in-field data analysis. Output spectrum of the integrated light source must not change with light intensity. It must possess a fully sealed membrane data entry pad and integrated calculation system, and be able to function without an additional portable computer. The system shall not impact flux estimates by potentially creating pressure gradients. No adapters shall be required to manually position the fiber optic in the sampling head. Separate fluorometer system piggyback on the gas-exchange system is not acceptable for field portability. The system must possess a internal light source which operates without supplemental lights and batteries. No solicitation will be issued. Interested parties may submit a capability statement and product specifications to the Contracting Officer jstevenson@usgs.gov Anticipated award date: August 18, 2003. See Note 22.
