Description

The US Air Force Air Expeditionary Force Battlelab is exploring commercial/government off-the-shelf (COTS/GOTS) technologies related to an air compressor/power generator suite to fit into a designated space on a prototype aerospace ground equipment (AGE) cart. This suite is required to condense the maintenance footprint at deployed and home duty stations. The suite must be capable of producing 400 Hz, 3-phase, 60 kW of sustainable aircraft power. The air compressor portion must be able to provide sustainable high volume (80 cubic feet per minute) air. It should be noted that a combined suite is not an overall requirement. In a limited-space area, client preference is for power generation over air compression. The suite has an approximate dimension space of 30? W x 78? L x 57? H x 30? D. Other requirements for this system are: should be able to withstand diverse weather climates found on Air Force flight lines; have standard power generation such as a diesel or gas turbine engine; be easy to maintain. Through this Request for Information (RFI), the Air Force is requesting information concerning mature technologies, which meet the requirements previously stated, to be used in a Battlelab study. The primary selection criteria for all submissions will be the most practical system available to support the requirements. All offerors are strongly encouraged to submit information supporting this request. Currently, there is only limited Battlelab funding identified for this program, however, if research indicates that the technology is available and transferable to the USAF, funding may be sought for prototype demonstration and recommended to Headquarters, Air Combat Command.
