- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR Space Flight Awareness (SFA) 40th Anniversary/STS-107 Honoree Award. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. Due date for receipt of quotations is extended to August 7, 2003. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions from quoters, see below. 1. What type of decoration imprinting will be done, eg., sand blasting, laser etching, pad printing, etc.? ANSWER: Laser etching on crystal. 2. If pad printed or sand embossed, will there be one or two colors involved. The NASA logo has essentially two colors excluding the jade crystal background. ANSWER: There is no color, and the NASA logo will not be used. 3. What type of packing and packaging requirement will there be? ANSWER: Gift boxed, and then packed in an outer box to prevent damage in shipment - see online RFQ JSC TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PURCHASE ORDER, items 1-6. 4. Will all units be shipped to JSC or drop shipped off of a mailing list? ANSWER: 10 to JSC zip code 77058, 490 drop shipped to one address in Washington D.C, zip code 20024-3210. 5. Will there be separate names decorated on single award or is this a one-shot group type award? ANSWER: No personalization will be on the awards; they will all be identical. 6. What type of base thickness, material etc are you looking for? ANSWER: Base could be crystal or black, high gloss wood. Thickness and size would be according to the design of the crystal and configuration at their discretion. 7. I am trying to do the estimate and I cannot answer the one question asking for GSA contact #? ANSWER: If you are offering a item off of a GSA schedule, please provide the GSA contract number. 8. Will NASA provide drawings of the or must one rely on their own resources? ANSWER: The exact drawings of the etching will be provided to the winning quote. 9. What is the desired delivery date? ANSWER: September 15, 2003. 10. Will the due date for proposals be extended? ANSWER: Yes, until Thursday August 7, 2003. Please remember to acknowledge all amendments. 11. I submitted a bid prior to this modification announcement and am with the impression that I should re-submit my bid acknowledging this amendment. Is this so? ANSWER: We have extended the delivery date for quotations with this amendment. You may leave your offer in as is, or, revise it, and provide the new offer on the new due date. Please acknowledge with an e-mail acknowledgement of amendments per the RFQ. 12. The request states the material to be clear or jade crystal. Does this limit the material to crystal, or are clear or jade acrylics or glass acceptable solutions? ANSWER: We are limiting to crystal only. 13. Is the globe with it's spacecraft 3-dimensional? ANSWER: No it will be etched from original production art. 14. Is it inside the crystal piece or is it engraved on the outside? ANSWER : It is laser etched on two sides. If on the outside does the same view of earth show on both sides? ANSWER :Yes 15. Is everything etched on both sides, or are some etchings on one side and some etchings on the other? ANSWER: Both sides will be utilized for etching, but there will be some elements on each side. 16. Jade does not come in Crystal. Jade is available only in glass. Please confirm. ANSWER: There are indeed many selections on the Internet for jade crystal. 17. Base is mentioned as optional. Does this mean that the base is required if the award is thick enough to safely and SECURELY be free standing? Below what thickness do you require a base? Beyond what thickness do you not require a base? ANSWER: We are leaving it up to the creativity of the vendor to determine if the size and shape of the configuration warrants or is enhanced by a base. 18. What are the terms regarding deposit and progress payments? ANSWER: This will be a fixed price contract, and, no progress payments or advance payments will be provided. The due date for receipt of quotations is extended to Thursday August 7, 2003. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on July 31, 2003. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office 97 format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
