ADDENDUM DATE: 04 August 2003 PROJECT: Kannapolis Post Office PROJECT NUMBER: 1970.14 FOR: United States Postal Service This Addendum forms a part of the Contract Documents, modifies the original Documents for the above referenced project and subsequent Addenda / Clarifications, and shall take precedence over the original Contract Document drawings, specifications, schedules and other documents dated 04 June 2003 as issued by The FWA Group. CHANGES AND ADDITIONS TO SPECIFICATOINS 1. Add the following Specification Section 08460 ? Automatic Entrance Doors. 2. Delete Specification Section 12481 ? Floor Mats. CLARIFICATIONS TO DOCUMENTS 1. Profit, Overhead and Bonds are to be accounted separate from the allowances. 2. Irrigation referenced in the Notice to Offeror is for maintenance of plants during construction. A permanent irrigation system is not in the contract. 3. On Sheet E3.01 ? Electrical Security Plan, references to access control devices on the exterior door at the Carrier Vestibules and Mail Vestibule shall be modified to reflect the Hardware Schedule in Specification 08710. 4. Sheet A7.05, add general note, ?Finish color to be Bronze?. 5. Sheet A1.01, add note to west wall in room 601 ? Lunch, ?Vending, N.I. C.?. 6. Sheet A2.01, change notes ?4? ROOF DRAIN LEADER?? and ?4? OVERFLOW ROOF DRAIN LEADER?? to read ?SEE SHEET A1.03 FOR ROOF DRAIN PLUMBING PLAN. PROVIDE CLEANOUTS AS REQUIRED BY CODE.? 7. In the Notice to Offerors, Item #15, add the statement, ?The Contractor is to provide unit pricing for fill material needed to replace unsuitable soil and rock.? 8. In the Notice to Offerors, Item #8 8) All proposals must include the attached schedule of values. 1. Total project Schedule of Values 2. Listing of selected vendors and price. EX. Casework, CCTV, signage, etc. Failure to provide any of the above information will result in automatic disqualification of proposal. Errors and/or omissions of any item on the Schedule of Values will solely be the responsibility of the Contractor. The USPS will have no liability regarding errors and/or omissions on the Schedule of Values submitted by the Contractor. SECTION 08460 AUTOMATIC ENTRANCE DOORS PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 SUMMARY A. Section Includes: 1. Automatic door operators and actuators. B. Related Documents: The Contract Documents, as defined in Section 01110 - Summary of Work, apply to the Work of this Section. Additional requirements and information necessary to complete the Work of this Section may be found in other Documents. C. Related Sections: 1. Section 08410, Aluminum Windows, Entrances and Storefronts 2. Section 08800, Glazing 3. Division 16, Electrical: 115 volt AC, minimum 15 amp (for two operators), single-phase wiring in conduit between operator enclosure and building power supply and low voltage wiring between enclosure and actuators. Wiring is to be concealed. Surface wiring is not permitted. 1.2 REFERENCES A. American National Standard Institute (ANSI): 1. ANSI/BHMA A156.10, American National Standard for Power Operated Doors. 2 ANSI/BHMA A156.19, American National Standard for Power Assist and Low Energy Power Operated Doors. B. Underwriter?s Laboratories (UL): 1. UL #325, Standard for Door, Drapery, Gate, Louver and Window Operators and Systems. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Section 01330 - Submittal Procedures: Procedures for submittals. 1. Product Data: Manufacturer?s catalog data, detail sheets and specifications. 2. Shop Drawings: Prepared specifically for this project, showing door dimensions, operators and wiring diagrams. 3. Assurance/Control Submittals: a. Certificates: Manufacturer's certificate that Products meet or exceed specified requirements. c. Qualification Documentation: Submit documentation of experience indicating compliance with specified qualification requirements. B. Section 01780 - Closeout Submittals: Procedures for closeout submittals. 1. Operating and Maintenance Data: Operating and maintenance instructions, parts lists and wiring diagrams. 2. Submit written special warranty with forms completed in United States Postal Service name and registered with manufacturer as specified in this Section. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualifications: 1. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing Products specified with minimum 5 years documented experience. 2. Installer: Company specializing in performing the Work of this Section and factory-trained with minimum 5 years documented experience. B. Pre-Installation Meetings: 1. Convene a pre-installation meeting one week prior to commencing Work of this Section. 2. Require attendance of parties directly affecting Work of this Section. 3. Review conditions of operations, procedures and coordination with related Work. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Section 01600 - Product Requirements: Transport, handle, store, and protect Products. 1.6 WARRANTY A. Section 01780 - Closeout Submittals: Procedures for closeout submittals. 1.7 MAINTENANCE A. Subject to compliance with project requirements, manufacturers offering Products which may be incorporated in the Work include the following: 1. Dor-O-Matic, Harwood Heights, IL (800) 815-1517. 2. Horton Automatics, Corpus Christi, TX (800) 531-3111. 3. Stanley Access Technology, Farmington, CT (800) 722-2377. B. Section 01600 - Product Requirements: Product options and substitutions. Substitutions: Permitted. 2.2 AUTOMATIC SWINGING DOORS A. Model: 1. Dor-O-Matic: [ ________ ]. 2. Horton: [ _______ ]. 3. Stanley: Magic Access, MA900. 2.3 MATERIALS A. Automatic Swinging Doors: Heavy duty anodized extruded aluminum header and all hardware and accessories. Comply with ANSI/BHMA A156.19 and UL #325. 1. Type: Single swinging. 2. Actuators: Motion detector on exterior and on interior. 2. Actuators: Push plate on exterior and on interior. Actuators shall be hard-wired to door operators, per manufacturer?s recommendations. Radio controlled actuators are not acceptable. 3. Header enclosure finish: Dark bronze anodized. B. Door Operators: Completely electro-mechanical. Power open with spring and power boost closing and holding. Comply with ANSI A156.19 and UL 325. 1. Close and center door against stop after each cycle. Hold against drafts, winds, and stack pressure. 2. Spring-close closing force: 9 lb-force (40 N). 3. Manual switch between spring close-and-hold and power-boost close-and-hold. 4. Power-boost close-and-hold: Electronically increase door closing force to 15 lb-force. 5. Provide adjustment control for: a. Opening, open check and closing speed: Opening time shall not be less than 4 seconds. Closing time shall not be less than 4.5 seconds. b. Time delay and hold open time: Doors shall remain open for not less than 5 seconds. c. Opening force (torque limiting): Not to exceed 15 lb-force. 6. Manual "On-Off-Hold Open" switch. 7. Reverse on obstruction on opening. 8. In event of power failure, make door operate manually with controlled spring close as though equipped with a manual door closer, without damage to operator components. 9. Gear box operator: Self-contained rust proof housing, with precision-machined gears and bearing seals and all-weather lubricant, mounted on vibration isolators. 10. Motor: DC permanent magnet motor with sealed ball bearings. 11. Door operating arm: Forged steel, attached at natural pivot point of door; do not use slide block in top of door. Exposed arms are to be factory polished and finished to match operator enclosure. 12. Service conditions: Satisfactory operation between minus 30 degrees F (minus 34 degrees C) and 130 degrees F. 13. Power supply required: 115 volts AC, minimum 15 amps. Control circuits for actuators: Low voltage, NEC Class II. C. Operator Enclosure: Overhead enclosure concealing all operating parts except arms and manual control switches. 1. Concealed Mounting: In ceiling or frame header, accessed through cutout; conceal door arm when door is closed. 2. Size: Maximum 6 inches (15 cm) high by maximum 4-1/2 inches (11 cm) deep by full door width. 2.4 ACCESSORIES A. Motion Detectors Actuator.1. Provide directional movement detection; allow door to close sooner when motion is away from door. 2. Operation: Detect approaching movement within adjustable zone near door and activate operator. Operator to time-out upon no movement or departing movement. 3. Adjustable sensitivity and time delay. 4. Housing: Black Lexan. 5. Lens: Red Lexan, sealed to provide weather- and dust-proofing. 6. Mounting: Flush against header/wall. 7. Electronics: Removable printed circuit board with gold-plated contacts; unaffected by radio frequency interference, normal police, fire, and ambulance frequencies, and other two-way radio frequencies; designed to eliminate line noise and surge current. 8. Service conditions: Satisfactory operation between minus 30 degrees F (minus 34 degrees C) and 130 degrees F, unaffected by humidity or moisture. AB. Push Plate Actuator: Formed metal plate with rounded corners, satin finish; minimum 4 inches (10 cm) square; with depressed marking. 1. Material: Stainless steel. 2. Marking: ?PUSH TO OPEN? white lettering on blue background. BC. Signs: Provide signs complying with ANSI A156.19 and applicable codes; black lettering on yellow background. 1. Two way traffic doors: ?CAUTION AUTOMATIC DOOR?. 2. One way traffic doors: ?CAUTION AUTOMATIC DOOR? and directional ?IN ONLY?/?OUT ONLY?. 2. When seperate wall switch is used to initiate the operation of the door operator, provide signs on both sides of doors. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Section 01700 - Execution Requirements: Verification of existing conditions before starting work. B. Verification of Conditions: Verify that field measurements, surfaces, substrates and conditions are as required, and ready to receive Work. 1. Verify that door openings and doors are properly installed and ready for installation of automatic door equipment. 2. Verify that electrical service is available, properly located and of proper type. C. Report in writing to Contracting Officer prevailing conditions that will adversely affect satisfactory execution of the Work of this Section. Do not proceed with Work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. D. By beginning Work, Contractor accepts conditions and assumes responsibility for correcting unsuitable conditions encountered at no additional cost to the United States Postal Service. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install in accordance with manufacturer?s instructions. Comply with ANSI A156.10 or ANSI A156.19. B. Verify that electrical connections are made correctly. 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Section 01450 - Quality Control: Field testing and inspection. 3.4 ADJUST AND CLEAN A. Adjust doors and operators for proper operation, without binding, scraping or excessive noise. 3.5 PROTECTION A.
