- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a sole source purchase order with Michigan State University for the cooperative start-up of the National Center for Pavement Preservation. The mission of the National Center for Pavement Preservation is to serve as a national focus for a collaborative effort among government, industry and academia participants to advance and improve pavement preservation practices through education, research and outreach. Michigan State University is committed to the pavement preservation concept and has committed a significant portion of the cooperative start-up funding for the National Center. They will also provide facilities, experienced practitioner staff, practical research capabilities and amenities for the Center. MSU?s expert staff has been involved for years in the development of pavement preservation programs at the State DOT level. Michigan State University is uniquely positioned to host and lead the newly established National Center to further technology transfer and outreach efforts associated with pavement preservation and preventive maintenance and is the only known source for the establishment of the National Center for Pavement Preservation. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or before August 25, 2003.
