Description
NA THE PURPOSE OF THIS MODFICATION IS TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: Question: Does this system currently have an Internet interface available, or is this project to establish this service from the initial planning phase? If it currently exists, is the URL available for review by prospective venders? If it does not currently exist in some state, are the project??????s planning documents available for review by prospective vendors? Project is to provide on-line access to information Question: Will the contractor be providing infrastructure as well as services (i.e. web server, database, firewalls, domain services, development applications etc)? No. Question: What is the access interface to the Internet, as envisioned by the government for this system (i.e. Bandwidth of T1 or more)? Internet access at T1 or greater. Question: Is there a requirement for the contractor to provide technical support for the end-users, or the government information providers as support for this system? Provide initial end-user training if necessary. Question: Is the requirement that the contractor provide staff to be present at the Place of Performance? No. If so, what is the government's estimated FTE requirement for this portion of the service? The RFQ states: The service will allow searching, locating, viewing, and printing the scanned image of specific document pages, by multiple, concurrent users assessing the Internet via their personal computer (PC) or workstation. Question: Will the government provide the scanned image or will the contractor be required to create it? Contractor required to provide it. Our Question is: What digital format will the images be created in (i.e. PDF etc.)? PDF Question : Does the government have any estimate of the quantity of images that currently exist? No If so, how many are there? How many can the contractor expect will be added during the course of the contract? Our Question is: Are the images in question created (or to be created) including Meta Data? If so, is there a data taxonomy for relating each ??????image?????? to each catalog, category and item? The RFQ states: Each category of catalog information will be available to 2 concurrent users. Parts, Items, and Logistics Data in the Federal Supply Catalog, Federal Logistics Information Systems, and related databases. Question: What is the relationship between the items listed in this statement to the 2 concurrent users? On-line access to this information will be available to 2 users concurrently. Question: Which Federal Logistics Information Systems, and related databases?????? are being referred to, and how will this system be required to interact with each (i.e. is this a requirement for an automated link between these catalog items and the database where the point of origin for the data is ?????? NO ) Question: Is this a requirement for contractor staff to update these systems catalogs as part of the project? Catalog information available for on-line access must be current. The RFQ states: The service will allow comprehensive searching and reporting on parts and logistics information. Question: Please define the terms comprehensive searching and reporting on parts and logistics information more completely. What is meant by comprehensive and logistics? The RFQ states: Deposit account for non-PDF DoD Adopted and Industry Standards. Pricing on a per document basis. Question: Is there more specificity available to define this requirement? Some documents which are not available to view on-line in PDF format may be purchased through the vendor on a per document basis. The description states The service will allow searching, locating, viewing, and printing the scanned image of specific document pages. Is scanning the pages part of the scope of this solicitation? Or will the scanned images be provided? If the im ages are to be provided, in what file format(s) will they be? If the winner of the contract is to scan in the images, how large are the images and what quality does the application need to display and print them? How many items (approximately) are in the catalog? Can a sample catalog entry be provided? ANSWER:The requirement is to provide internet access to the scanned images, which are not provided by Natick. Standard PDF image quality is required. Number of vendor catalog items is not known. On-line access to catalog information in the specified areas is part of the requirement. Is the database already available ? If so, Is database updates considered as part of this solicitation ? ANSWER: The requirement is to provide internet access to the database information, which should be current and updated. The database is not available at Soldier Systems Center Natick.
