Description

NA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District intends to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) to award a firm-fixed price contract for the Project: Renovations to building 5652, Air Mobility Warfare Center, Fort Dix, New Jersey. The project consist of renovations for an existing dormitory/administrative facility located at Fort Dix, New Jersey. This is a solicitation for construction services to upgrade and renovate the existing facility due to the age of the building, to meet current Life Safety Requir ements and due to the changes of occupancy from the past to the present. The general scope of work includes installation of a new fire protection system; provisions for enclosed fire escapes on each end of the building; an upgrade to the building ventilati on system; renovation & reconfiguration of the existing bathrooms to accommodate increased personnel capacity, upgrading of existing laundry rooms; electrical and plumbing upgrades; abatement and removal of any asbestos or lead materials necessary to accom plish any renovation; wall and door repositioning; removal of old paint; painting; window replacement; carpeting; classroom upgrades; communication upgrades; roof replacement; and landscaping restoration.This procurement shall be 8(a) Competitive. The esti mated value of the project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The completion period is approximately 365 calendar days from receipt of the Notice to Proceed. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 236220 with a size standard o f $28,500,000.00. Norma Smith. Plans and Specification will be available on or about August 25, 2003. Bid Opening date is on 24 September 2003 at 11 A.M. Bid opening will be held in Room 1841 of 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY 10278. The media selected for the issuance of the Solicitation and Amendments shall solely be at the discretion of the Government; accordingly, the media utilized for this project shall be the Internet and CD-ROM. Paper copies of this Solicitation, and Amendments, if any, will not be available or issued. Interested parties may download and print the Solicitation at no charge at http://www.nan.usace.army.mil (Contracting Opportunities). Project specification files and drawings are portable document files (PDF) and can be viewed, navigat ed, or printed using Adobe Acrobat reader. Minimum system requirements are 486-based personal computer, Microsoft Windows 3.1 or greater, 8mb application RAM. A registration page is attached to the website and prospective bidders are required to register a nd to receive notice of any amendments and/or addenda that may be issued to this solicitation. Utilization of the Internet is the preferred method, however, CDs will be available upon written request stating the Solicitation Number, or Project Name, comple te company name and street address. A site visit will be conducted on 4 September 2003 at 2:00 PM. Please contact the resident office to be included in the site visit and to receive furthur inst ructions for the meeting place.
