Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) is issuing a notice of intent to negotiate a sole source procurement with The Rochester Corporation to manufacture 6,234 feet of 3-Electro-Light Cable. The Rochester Corportation produces the only known fiber-optic cable with three electro-light conductors which allow a narrow cable (0.322") with maximum workload of 2,500 lb/ft that contains three fiber-optic, with surrounding cooper sheathing for electrical conductors. This newly developed fiber-optic cable meets NEFSC scientific needs of deploying towed-body equipment with advance technology. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 41 USC (c) (1), Only One Responsible Source. Interested parties may identify their interest and must provide evidence of their capability to respond to this requirement by Aug 29, 2003. This notice of intent is not a requirement for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
