Description
The mission of Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is to serve as the Federal Government’s most secure and efficient source of vital securities. The BEP operates a state-of-the-art printing facility for the printing and processing of U.S. currency, postage stamps, and other securities. In support of these operations the BEP utilizes state-of-the-art printing equipment including both sheet feed and web presses. The presses utilize intaglio, offset, letterpress, and gravure printing processes. In order to provide the most efficient and economical support to the mission, the BEP has created as a core function, a Machine Shop Operation which includes state-of-the-art Computer Numerical Control (CNC) capability and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection capability. The Machine Shop Operation includes (1)provides full service Maintenance Support to the entire BEP facility, (2) includes a Roller Finishing Operation, and (3) provides full service Parts Fabrication capability. The BEP intends to issue a solicitation for Machine Shop Operations, the procurement will be conducted in accordance with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-76. The Circular and Supplemental Handbook are available for review on the OMB website at www.omb.gov/circulars/index.html. The successful offer shall provide all personnel, management, and supervision necessary to perform the BEP Machine Shop Operation located at 14th and C Streets, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20228. The BEP anticipates issuing a draft statement of work on or before March 7, 2003. Interested parties will be extended the opportunity to visit the BEP facility within one-week of the draft statement of work being released. The BEP encourages feedback as a result of the draft statement of work and site visit. The final solicitation will be issued on or about April 15, 2003 electronically on the Federal Business Opportunities Website at www.eps.gov. The BEP anticipates letting a Firm Fixed-Priced contract with a base year and four option years. Interested sources may submit a written request to be placed on the mailing list so they can be notified when solicitation has been released. All responsible sources may submit an offer upon receipt of the solicitation, which, shall be considered by the Bureau.
