- Z: RFPGP4002SKR - Pilot Project for Eight Car Train Precision Station Stopping - Contract to Design, develop, furnish, install and test a pilot project demonstrating the automatic precise station stopping of eight-car trains at eight rail stations on WMATA's Red Line. Stopping accuracy of +/- 3 feet for 99.999% of normal and reverse stops is required, which may be achieved by hardware/software modifications to trains and/or wayside as determined by the successful proposer. WMATA anticipates the evaluation/design/installation phase of this project to take about eight months from NTP and the testing phase should last about four additional months. Upon successful completion of the pilot project, and subject to WMATA Board approval, negotiations could be entered into with the selected Contractor for the pilot project to implement this work on a part or all of the remainder of the 106 mile rail system.
