Description
The purpose of this contract is to secure a complete set of services that have historically been accomplished by numerous individual contracts. Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, supplies, and services to construct modified fuel profile zones, treat and remove products, treat miscellaneous noxious weed/plants, treat riparian reserves and reduce fuels during the period of July 2003 to November 1, 2004 on the Weaverville Ranger District, Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Trinity County, California. In the past, contracts have been awarded for logging, fuel reduction, wildlife enhancement and stream channel protection/enhancement in the same general area. Each of these was designed to meet the management objectives for a narrow range of resources. Fuel reduction was for fire management and silviculture goals; logging was for timber and fire management goals, wildlife enhancement for recruiting wildlife habitat and soils concerns: and stream channel protection/enhancement was for fishery, soils, and hydrology goals. This contract combines all of these operations into one contract to take advantage of the efficiencies of having one larger operation to meet multiple objectives. Approximately 630 acres in one bid item will be treated with a combination of the following treatments. Work consists of product treatment and removal (logging by helicopter and ground-based equipment), hand cutting live, dead and damaged vegetation, riparian reserve hand piling/burning, grapple piling, lopping and scattering, mastication, hand piling whole units, and fireline construction. Estimated start work date is July 2003 with a contract time of 2 years. There will be a pre-bid tour; date and time will be announced in the solicitation. Solicitation will be a Request for Proposal with the evaluation criteria clearly identified in Section M. Solicitation documents will be available for downloading off this website on or about May 13, 2003. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (28-APR-2003). IT ACTUALLY FIRST APPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 18-AUG-2003.
