- Notice of intent to issue RFQ on a sole source basis to Clamshell Buildings, Ventura, CA, for the repair of the Lightweight Torpedo Clamshelter at NAS North Island, CA. The clamshelter has many components that need to be repaired in order to meet operational readiness, required usage plans, and safety concerns. The clamshelter end doors are currently inoperable. The end door on the south side is locked in the open position and cannot be closed and the north door is locked in the closed position. Many of the riggings, wire cables, and other components are either broken, damaged, or badly rusted and need to be replaced. The riggings supporting the south door are rusted and may break at any time, resulting in potential damage to Torpedo components or injury to personnel. Several fabric panels in the canopy have large holes, which allows water into the interior area during peri ods of rain. A non-competitive procurement is anticipated utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Anticipated award date is 26 Aug 03.
