Description

NA The purpose of this project is to restore about 40 acres of aquatic habitat in the shoaled-in portion of Ninigret Pond in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Habitat restoration will be through selective dredging of the flood tidal delta inside the pond and establ ishing a sedimentation basin in the breachway to prevent future shoaling. The flood tidal delta will be dredged to a depth of 2.5 feet below mean low water (MLW). The sedimentation basin will be about 3.5 acres in size and dredged to a depth of 8 feet be low MLW. Approximately 146,000 total cubic yards of material will be dredged; 111,000 from the restoration areas and 35,000 from the sedimentation basin. The dredge material shall be removed using hydraulic dredge and pipelines. All of the material dred ged from the restoration areas will be deposited in the intertidal zone along Charlestown Beach and be shaped by wave action. About 10,000 cubic yards of the material removed from the sedimentation basin will be placed in a temporary dewatering area adjac ent to the breachway and removed by others. THIS SOLICITATION IS 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The solicitation shall be made available via the internet on or about 9/8/03. No paper copies of the solicitation or amendments will be made available. Firms interested must register on the Internet to receive the solicitation. Amendments, if any, to this solicitation will be made available at this internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted.
