- Description
- The Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has a requirement to solicit additional proposals and expand its research program entitled, ?Large Scale Antibody and T Cell Epitope Discovery Program.? This requirement is to establish and support several highly interactive, multi-disciplinary teams focused on large-scale discovery of novel antibody (B cell) and/or T cell epitopes associated with microorganisms responsible for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, including potential agents of bioterrorism and their toxins (listed as NIAID category A-C agents at www.niaid.nih.gov/dmid/bioterrorism/bandc_priority.htm ). Research conducted under this initiative may include one or more type of epitope discovery, for example: Discovery of linear and/or conformational antibody epitopes; Discovery of cytotoxic and/or helper T cell epitopes presented by MHC class I and class II molecules, respectively; and Discovery of epitopes/ligands presented by nonclassical MHC and/or MHC-related molecules. The initiative also promotes the development of novel or improved high-throughput screening methods for antibody and/or T cell epitope identification, with an emphasis on novel methods for the identification of antibody epitopes or T helper cell epitopes. Through the Large-Scale Antibody and T Cell Epitope Discovery Initiative, the NIAID plans to fund multiple proposals that address one or both of the research areas listed in the Statement of Work. This acquisition is an expansion of NIAID RFP NIH-NIAID-DAIT-03-43, Large-Scale Antibody and T Cell Epitope Discovery Program. The purpose of both acquisitions is identical. It is anticipated that five to ten (5-10) cost-reimbursement, completion type contracts will be awarded for a period of five years, beginning approximately September 4, 2004. RFP NIH-NIAID-DAIT-04-39 will be available electronically on or about August 29, 2003, and may be accessed through the NIAID Contract Management Branch (CMB) Home page by using the following electronic address and instructions: NIAID/CMB Home Page (via www): Use http://www.niaid.nih.gov/contract to access the NIAID/CMB Home Page. Please note that the RFP for this acquisition only includes the work statement, deliverable and reporting requirements, special requirements, the technical evaluation criteria, and the proposal preparation instructions and provisions. All information required for the submission of an offer will be contained in the electronic RFP package. Following proposal submission and the initial review process, offerors comprising the competitive range will be requested to provide additional documentation to the Contracting Officer. Responses to this RFP will be due approximately December 3, 2003. Any responsible offeror may submit a proposal which will be considered by the Government.
