Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue an order under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-03-G-0004 with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, PO Box 516, St. Louis, MO 62166-0516. The order will be for the procurement of the nonrecurring engineering effort to design the necessary modifications for upgrades and prepare the associated Technical Directives to allow for the future retrofit of United States Marine Core (USMC) and Canada Forces (CF) F/A-18 aircraft in accordance with ECP 0583R2. The upgrade will include AN/ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispensing System, Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System, Multifunctional Information Distribution System, Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability and improved color displays suite. The McDonnell Douglas Corporation is the designer, developer, and sole manufacturer of the F/A-18 aircraft, and is the only known firm possessing adequate existing knowledge, facilities, tooling, and special test equipment to provide the engineering support required to perform the modification of the FCC program on the F/A-18 aircraft in a timely manner.
