Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Carl Zeiss, Incorporated, of Thornwood, New York for one (1) each upgrade to an existing Zeiss Axiocam MRM Camera System This equipment will be used to upgrade a microscope camera system currently being used by the NIST Semiconductor Electronics Division for fluorescence imaging of biological materials that have been tagged with fluorescent dye. ***Sole Source determination is based on the need for the upgrade to maintain absolute compatibility and functionality with NIST?s existing, Carl Zeiss Axiocam system. Carl Zeiss is the only vendor who can provide the imaging hardware and software configuration that will assure complete compatibility with databases and analysis made with existing equipment. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order. ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees. ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by September 1, 2003. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
