- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Radiation Biology Branch (ROB) plans to procure on a sole source basis with Philips Medical Systems, GMBH Forschungslaboratorien, 63 05 65 D22315 24-26 D2233, Hamburg, Germany for service and maintenance for the Philips Overhauser Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (OMRI) Scanner for a one (1) year period. The supplies and services herein are being procured under the simplified procedures authorized in FAR Part 13. The North American Industry Classification System code is 811310 and the business size standard is $6M. The Overhauser Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging device was designed by the Philips Corporation in Europe, and refined using the experience and expertise of the Radiation Biology Branch (RBB). The OMRI Scanner has been specifically made to treat and image small animal models using real time imaging techniques. The OMRI scanner was designed to study ongoing and future experiments in the RBB. This machine allows for non-invasive imaging to be performed in a manor that has never been available previously. This unit is a one of a kind item that has been created to study these imaging processes. Philips Medical Systems is the only source known to the NCI that can provide the service and maintenance of the Overhauser Magnetic Resonance Imaging (OMRI) Scanner. It is not known of any other company that can provide service to this machine, as it is a prototype item that has proprietary systems information. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements they may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 PM, EST (local Washington, D.C. time) on September 10, 2003.
