Description: NA Site Visit. The solicitation number will be changed when the solicitation is issued. A site visit/preproposal conference will be held for Fort Greely, Alaska and Eareckson Air Station, Alaska on 9 and 10 September 2003. The requirement is for the contra ctor to operate and maintain the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) and MILSTAR Terminals at Fort Greely and to operate and maintain the DSCS terminals at Eareckson Air Station. This requirement is in support of the Ground-Based Midcourse Defe nse (GMD) project. The solicitation is anticipated to be released on or about 5 September 2003. Registration will begin at 8:30 am in the Fort Wainwright Digital Training Facility (Fairbanks, Alaska), building number 1031. (Come in the North gate and fo llow the signs for the Thrift Shop, which is located in building 1031. The building is located on the corner of 102nd Street and Chestnut.) Fort Wainwright and Fort Greely are closed military installations and those wishing to participate in the site vis it and pre-proposal contract must contact SFC Thomas at (907) 384-1183 for voice or (907) 384-0124 for fax no later than 3:00 pm MST on 4 September 2003. Participants must disclose their Social Security numbers and full names using no alias to SFC Thomas and must be able to produce a photo identification card with Social Security number or separate card with Social Security number at the site visit. Attendance shall be limited to no more than two representatives per firm. Questions received at the site v isit will be considered and addressed, if feasible, depending on the nature of the question. While visiting Fort Greely, leather shoes or safety shoes/boots are required due to the site being in a construction zone. For planning purposes, the first day of the pre-proposal conference is expected to end at 4:30 pm followed by a 1- 1/2 drive from Fort Greely to Fairbanks. The second day should end by noon.
