Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Plum Island Animal Disease Center, Orient Point, New York, intends to negotiate solely with Cephid in Sunnyvale, CA, to furnish three (3) new Smart Cycler II TD (Transportable Device) System which includes the following: Processing block with 16 independent reaction sites, each with a 4-color optical excitation and detection, laptop computer, computer software, operator manual, tube racks, cooling block, mini-centrifuge, 25 UL reaction tubes (qty 100), custom case for transporting Smart Cycler, Laptop and accessories, and one-year service/maintenance contract. This notice is neither a request for quotations nor a solicitation of offers. Based on the requirements for the above system, the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority FAR 6.302. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement on a full and open competitive basis is solely within the discretion of the Government. No formal solicitation package is available. The Government anticipates award on September 8, 2003. The Government will not be responsible for any costs in the preparation of responses to this announcement.
