Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Experimental Immunology Branch (EIB), plans on entering into a sole source contract with Universal Imaging Corporation, 402 Boot Road, Downingtown, PA 91335. The EIB was formed in 1998 to promote fundamental research in immunology and to provide foundation of immunological expertise in the NCI. EIB performs basic research in immunology which necessitates the procurement of advanced scientific imaging equipment to support the high complex and state of the art mechanisms and construct being investigaed by the EIB branch. The software and controls must be compatible with an existing MetaMorph image acquisition and processing software coupled to a Zeiss upright fluorescence microscope. The EIB now requires the procurement of a CARV spinning disk confocal module plus software; which will greatly enhance the capabilities as well as pursue new avenues of research. To implement the CARV module into the EIB facility, it is required that the software and controls be compatible with existing mciroscopes. Universal Imaging is the only source known to the EIB that can provide a CARV spinning disk confocal module plus software, which is compatible with existing equipment. However, if any interested party believes it can provide the ncessary equipment/software it may submit a statement of capability. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:30 P.M. EDT, (local Washington, D.C. time) on September 9, 2003. This procurement will be processed based on the authority of FAR 12 acquisition of commercial items. If you have any quesitons please contact Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent on (301) 402-4509. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collects calls will be accpeted. the NAICS Code is 334616.
