- Description
- NASA/LaRC has a requirement for Tytron 250 Microforce Test System for use in the Mechanics and Durability Branch at Langley Research Center. NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from MTS Corporation as they are the only commercial, stand-alone microforce test system company that meets all of the test requirements for precision in displacement, force range and resolution, positioning accuracy, working field, and resolution. The test sytem provides the accuracy required in such areas as: minimizing drift, precise position control, speed control, mechanical frame stiffness, dynamic measure, and multi-segment testing. The dynamic range of the test system alows for frequency response up to 50 Hz without system adjustment. MTS Corporation is the only company that has access to the patented software and hardware and thus is the only company that can produce the test system that meets the exact requirements. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 9/12/2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
