- MODIFICATION: THIS NOTICE IS BEING MODIFIED TO WITHDRAW THE REQUIREMENT FOR 100% SET ASIDE FOR SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. THIS IS TO BE PROCURED ON AN UNRESTRICTED BASIS. United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Mid West Area has a project entitled Emergency Paging system. The project is located at the National Soil Tilth Laboratory, Ames, Iowa. This work includes, but is not limited to furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and other necessary work to perform and complete the following: Installing an emergency paging system with pre-recorded messages activated via, fire alarm (through the existing Simplex fire panel), duress via the existing Andover security access system or manual activation. Manual activation will be from a central location currently established as the receptionist area by means of either a pull station, switch or button. The emergency paging system will also allow voice paging via a microphone or telephone located in the receptionist area. Speakers will be installed as part of this project throughout four 94) floors of the building. In addition, the project will include installation of a two-way intercom system from three (3) exterior entrances back to the receptionist area. The intercom system will be installed with a user activated momentary release of the security magnetic door lock system from the receptionist are to each of individual doors. The period of performance is 45 days. All work shall be performed in strict accordance with the Specifications and Drawings. A Payment Bonds shall be required. Estimated price range for Base Bid are: Between $25,000 and $100,000. This acquisition is 100% set-aside for Small Business. All requests for a solicitation package must reference IFB No. 5114-3-1000 and the contact name above. No telephone requests for the solicitation package will be accepted. All responsible and qualified sources may submit a bid that will be considered by the agency. A pre-bid site visit will be scheduled and information provided in the solicitation package. This will be the only opportunity to visit the job site prior to submission of bid. The anticipated IFB solicitation package will be available on or about July 16, 2003, with opening date 30 days later.
