Description
NA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District is seeking sources for evaluating contractor interest and equipment availability for performing unclassified dredging in Brunswick Inner Harbor, Georgia. This procurement will be unrestricted. The NAICS Code is 237990, with a size standard of $28.5 Million. Responses to this sources sought synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this sources sought synopsis, and if the Governmen t still plans to proceed with the acquisition, a solicitation announcement will be published in the Fed Biz Ops. No solicitation is currently available. Estimated cost range is more than $10,000,000.00. Please respond to the following questions: 1. Wo uld you bid on a 6 ft Brunswick Inner Harbor deepening project with the following project features: a. Approximately 4 million cubic yards of material to be dredged with characteristics of sand as a loose, unconsolidated material as well as materials tha t are typically calcitic and dolomitic in composition and exhibit some degree of lithification. Unconfined compressive strengths were up to 550 psi. On a previous project, soils and rock similar to these materials were removed from a 100-foot widener in t he South Brunswick River channel using the 19-inch dredge STUART. Based on past dredging history and the geotechnical data in the area, it is the Districts opinion that materials to be dredged for this portion of the deepening project can be removed with a similarly configured dredge. b. Disposal of the majority of the dredged material will be into the Andrews Island upland containment area. The pumping distance for this work will vary from 4,000 to 21,000 feet. One open water disposal site will be use d to construct a bird island. The bird island, a 16-acre site, will be constructed in the shallows of St. Simons Sound utilizing a portion of the material from the Jekyll Island and Cedar Hammock Ranges. The pumping distance for this work will vary from 6,000 to 8,000 feet. c. The required dredging depth varies from minus 36 feet mllw to minus 41 feet mllw. The portions of the channel to be dredged are Station 6+250 to Station 22+000, Stations 1+075 to 7+000 in South Brunswick River, and Stations 2+250 to 12+000 in East River. 2. Would you bid on this project if it were advertised between 1 January 2004 and 1 Oct 2004? 3. What size and type of dredging equipment would you use to perform the work? 4. Would you more likely bid on this project if it were advertised between January 2004 and March 2004 or between July 2004 and September 2004? Responses to this sources sought synopsis may be faxed, or mailed to the attention of Cheryl Jackson, fax 912-652-6059, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah Dis trict, Attn: CESAS-CT-P, Cheryl Jackson, PO Box 889, Savannah, GA 31402-0889.
