- Description
- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) intends to award a commercial sole source purchase order to Diversified Scientific, Inc., Birmingham, AL 35205, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This purchase is for one (1) each Crystalscore Imaging System which includes the following: video microscope, X-Y translation stage, lighting, video, computer, bar code, and CrystalScore software, Software Support and Upgrades, Installation and Training. This requirement is for a crystal imaging system that can take digital images in an automatic fashion of protein crystallization drops in hanging drop plates, high density sitting drop microtiter plates or high density microbatch plates. The system must have the following specifications: 1) Images an entire 96 well plate in under 3 minutes, 2) Collects images using a camera with resolution of at least 1380 x 1036 pixels, 3) Uses a screw-driven motorized X-Y translation stage for scanning plates with ±2 micron repeatability, 4) Uses a polarized fiber optic backlight and a rotatable polarizer to examine crystal birefringence, 5) Functions well within a coldroom, 6) Able to scan 24-well Linbro hanging drop plates, or sitting drop microtiter plates (96, 192 or 288 well (e.g. Corning, Greiner, Costar) or 96-well Corning microbatch plates, 7) Has a barcode reader for scanning plates, 8) Computer controlled hardware control including automated zoom and focus, 8) Is integrated with a searchable database and crystal analysis software, 9) Allows remote database connectivity to Microsoft SQL servers, 10) Detects crystals automatically in images, 11) Can automatically take images at several focal planes and assemble them into an AVI movie, 12) Uses automatic drop detection software, 13) Provides time-lapse data acquisition, 14) Archives up to 50 fields within a relational database including images, focus movies, crystal growth parameters, etc., and 15) Allows for measuring of crystal sizes on the screen using a mouse. All responsible sources may respond by submitting a written narrative statement of capability within 10 days of closing date of notice to Dee Lunney at the above address for consideration by the agency. Response must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received within 10 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with the Diversified Scientific. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500EM. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
