Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Laboratory of Population Genetics (LPG), plans to procure arrays, kits, genotyping application software packages and training kit from Affymetrix Inc., 3380 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051. The Laboratory of Population Genetics (LPG) is equipped to perform high throughput 'state of the art' automated genomic analyses, including automated DNA sequencing and genotyping. Our lab is involved in both developing new, technically advanced protocols utilizing novel instrumentations for new research projects and in transferring established protocols to a high throughput environment. The LPG works with research and clinical samples. The LPG has established protocols for the use of the GeneChip Analysis System and conducted experiments which clearly demonstrate the capability of the system. The GeneChip CustomSeq Array would ensure complete compatibility with the existing software and hardware of the present system and will allow expansion of our ability to do accurate, reproducible large-scale genomic analysis related to genes in pathways involved with cancer. The GeneChip CustomSeq Array has been shown to provide the accuracy and reproducibility needed to successfully complete large research and clinical studies. Requirements for the custom array include: Each custom array must be capable of re-sequencing up to 30KB of double-stranded sequence on a single array. Any haploid or diploid genome may be tiled on the array. Both anti- and sense-strands may be tiled on the array; The regions of interest must be specified by the customer and can be from contiguous or multiple dispersed regions; the custom array must utilize at least eight 25-mer probes per base pair, for every base pair in the region on interrogation (alternative tiling strategies may be employed depending on the nucleotide sequences to be interrogated and agreement with the customer); the custom arrays must provide complete sequence that is >99.9% accurate; the custom arrays must be >99.9% reproducible between arrays; the custom arrays must deliver completed sequence in just 48 hours (there should be no additional assemble of "short fragment-reads" required); the custom arrays must be manufactured in lots of >80 arrays; a resequencing Reagent kit must be available that contains qualified and validated reagents and controls for the most critical parts of the assay; there must be Service and Software Maintenance Plans for the array systems that include on-site training, service, and support; and the custom array must be compatible with both our current software and hardware. This item is commercial as defined in FAR Part 2, and this acquisition is being made in accordance with the test program using simplified procedures for certain commercial items as authorized in FAR 13.5. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the researcher to determine if the party can perform this requirement. An original and one copy of the capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 p.m. EST, on September 22, 2003. All questions must be in writing and can be faxed to (301) 402-4513 or emailed to holdcram@exchange.nih.gov. It is the vendor's responsibility to call (301) 402-4509 to insure questions have been received. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect call will be accepted. NAICS 325413
