- Description
- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to issue a purchase order on a non-competitive basis to Hutchinson International Corp. T/A United Rigging, 6601 Ammendal Rd, Beltsville, Maryland 20705, to provide Engineering services to de-commissioning one (1) Oxford 4 Tesla MRI Magnet, assist in the preparation of storing, transporting to Wang NMR Livermore, CA., and offloading unto the ground. At this time the Magnet is stored at the facility of Hutchinson International Corp. The NIH 4 Tesla magnet was developed in the late 1988-89, and it has been decided that it would be more economical and practical for the laboratories cardiac research to shut down the 4T magnet and replace it with a newer more advance MRI systems. The 4 Tesla Magnet is physically very large, 16' long, 14' in diameter, and with necessary supports and shipping restraints weighs approximately 60 ton (120,000 pounds). The move and equipment preparation requires very large capacity lifting cranes (100 tons) and experienced technical crew. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North America Industry Classification System (NAICS), is 333924 and the Employee Size is 750. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement. Responses to this announcement, referencing synopsis number” NHLBI-PS-2003-134 may be submitted to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20814-7902, Attention: Deborah Coulter. Fax quotations will only be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
