Description
NAICS Code: 541710 THIS IS A POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR STUDENT LABORATORY SERVICES TO BE HIRED ON A CONTRACT BASIS BY THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. The solicitation number is XQ8H09. The Agency has a requirement for a student to work within a multi-disciplinary research team and provide technical laboratory support for research projects. In support of the research goals described above, the student contractor will assist scientists in: (1) gathering data from laboratory and field measurements of physical, chemical and biological properties of coastal waters, (2) conducting literature searches, (3) analyzing, summarizing, and reporting data and technical information, (4) maintenance and calibration of scientific instruments and equipment, and (5) planning experiments and sampling procedures. The student will be required to follow established quality assurance and safety procedures in the performance of these duties. The student must have completed B.S. degree in biology, ecology, environmental science during the past year or be a graduate student in a relevant area of study at an accredited college/university. The student must have experience in field and laboratory work relevant to research on coastal ecosystems. Additional qualifications include ability to complete projects with a moderate degree of supervision and familiarity with scientific literature regarding coastal ecology.
