- NAICS Code: 541710 THIS IS A POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR STUDENT LABORATORY SERVICES TO BE HIRED ON A CONTRACT BASIS BY THE US ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. The solicitation number is XQ8H10. The Agency has a requirement for a student to work within a multi-disciplinary research team and provide technical laboratory support for research projects. Duties will include sample preparation and cleanup, protein analysis, and data entry and analysis. General laboratory support duties may include sampling, support, maintaining supplies and materials, routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, solution preparation, and other duties necessary to carry out the studies. The student will prepare, as requested, all samples according to the technical requirements provided by the mentor, and samples will be analyzed according to specifications and instructions provided by the mentor. The student will maintain careful and accurate records in a Laboratory Notebook. This notebook, and all other data produced under this order will be the property of the Environmental Protection Agency. The student needs to have completed all requirements for a B.S. or equivalent degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, environmental science or related field. The preferred student will have graduate training and/or experience in protein analysis techniques, or analytical chemistry or molecular techniques. The student will need to know basic laboratory safety requirements and will be given additional safety training at the Gulf Ecology Division.
