Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR Mechanism Analysis Software System. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to respond the questions and provide clarification. On the Specifications attachment, section 2.0 Scope, 7th bullet. A training program is no longer apart of this requirement. Prospective quoters may disregard the 7th bullet in its entirety. Questions and Answers: Question 1. Under Section 3.1 fourth bullet, the phrase "All defined stiffness and strength information shall be maintained.", please provide clarification of this requirement. Answer 1: Information defined in Pro/Engineer with the geometry such as material properties that contain stiffness and/or strength values shall be maintained with the geometry in the translation. A simple geometry translation that loses pre-defined properties is not adequate. Question 2. Under Section 3.2 third bullet, the phrase "The software shall be capable of follower force analysis.", please provide clarification of this requirement. Answer 2: The software shall be capable of analysis in which the force is dynamically updated to accommodate the deflection in the structure. For example, a tip load on a wing can either be constant in direction (eg. gravity), or it can "follow" the deflection of the tip and remain normal to the surface. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to September 10, 2003. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on September 10, 2003. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office 97 format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
