Description
The National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA) intends to award a sole-source procurement to Applied Minds, Inc. NIMA has a need to procure a unique technology demonstration exhibit to be operational by 13 October 2003. This exhibit is to incorporate some of the latest advances in Geospatial and Imagery related technology. The purpose of this effort is to showcase NIMA capabilities, industry partnerships, and future technology enhancements. Work will include design and fabrication of the exhibit, transport, setup, and installation, and production of the associated multimedia demonstrations. Applied Minds is the only source that can perform and provide the necessary products due to their knowledge of NIMA?s Strategic Intent, previous transformation plans and initiatives such as the Corporate Transformation Business Plan, and the results of the NIMA Transformation Report produced by the National System for Geospatial Intelligence (NSGI) Enterprise Transformation Product Team (NETIPT), which was chartered in May 2002. Further, due to previous work performed by Applied Minds, Inc. in support of other NIMA programs they possess current knowledge of NIMA?s mission, functions, business strategies, current operating construct, and understand the organization?s role with the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense. Some of the advanced technology to be showcased is proprietary to Applied Minds, Inc. Having any other vendor perform these services would cause a delay of approximately six months to the government for the new contractor to develop the technical expertise comparable to Applied Minds, Inc. This is a synopsis of intent to award a firm fixed price contract under FAR Part 12 - Commercial Items. The authority for sole source procurement is FAR 6.302-1(a), 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Responsible sources that are interested in this procurement may respond by providing clear and convincing information that identifies their ability to provide the product. All responses must be e-mailed to the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, Attn: Diane Alcott, AlcottD@nima.mil by 2:00 P.M., EST, 16 September 2003. It is the responsibility of the sender to confirm if e-mails have been received.
