- Description
- The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) intends to negotiate on a SOLE SOURCE basis with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), New York, NY 10016. The purpose of this procurement is to organize a conference to bring together experts in the fields of transplant nephrology, transplant surgery and clinical research in general medicine. To further the general mission of HRSA and the specific mission of the Office of Special Program, Division of Transplantation (OSP/DoT), there is a need to partnership with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), the American Society of Transplantation (AST) and the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) to help support a conference to discuss our understanding of the medical risk factors for development of renal disease in living kidney donors, and to develop guidelines for the evaluation and selection of living donors in order to limit their risk for the development of ESRD. Any other organization would have to spend significant resources to provide the knowledge and expertise that the above organizations have. Therefore, NKF is the only responsible source without substantial duplication of cost to the Government under authority 41 U.S.C. 253(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(b)(1). This requirement will be awarded under FAR Part 13 - Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated period of performance is for a six (6) month period. The NAICS code for this procurement is 561210. A Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition is on file. three (3) days from the date of the issuance of this notice, the Contracting Officer will proceed in accordance with FAR regulations to award a purchase order to NKF.
