- Description
- NA WCAN (ISR NET) Re-scope In accordance with ASD (C3I) Memorandum, SUBJECT: Radio Acquisition Policy, dated August 28, 1998 and the current guidance dated 17 June 2003 Radio Frequency (RF) Equipment Acquisition Policy the WCAN/ISR NET effort is no longer a separate and individual technology solution. This PIXS page will be deleted effective 1 Oct 2003. The policy addresses airborne networking solutions as follows: "A recent Department of Defense study and continued technology advancements indicate that expanding the scope of the JTRS/SCA to all waveforms above 2MHZ frequency is now viable. Therefore, to enhance our warfighting capabilities and to improve integration of our communication systems through networking technologies, the referenced Radio Acquisition Policy is hereby modified to specifically reflect that all such systems, including those operating above 2 GHZ, are required to be developed in compliance with JTRS/SCA. The policy is now applicable to all communications waveforms/systems that operate at or above 2MHz. By specifically expending this policy to airborne and ground-based networks through an appropriate networking-services layer being developed for JTRS/SCA radios. All JTRS/SCA radios must be able to run the networking- services layer of the Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW), support internet packed routing on the user and network sides of the radio, and must incorporate National Security Agency (NSA) certified software programmable cryptology." If you have further questions or comments please contact the Program Manager, Major Paul Simonich (937) 255-9962 or the Contracting Officer, Mr. John Meyer at 937-255-9249.
