DESCRIPTION: SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING DRAWINGS, WILL BE AVAILABLE ON CD ONLY. The Walla Walla District, Corps of Engineers, intends to award a firm-fixed price constru ction contract. The spillway gates at McNary Dam are vertical lift roller type gates. Each gate is 50 feet wide by 52 feet tall. Each gate consists of two leafs, a 27 foot tall upper leaf and a 25 foot tall lower leaf. The leaves are connected with a ho rizontal joint. Each gate is equipped with 18 wheel assemblies, 9 wheels per side. A wheel assembly consists of a 27 inch diameter steel wheel rim 8.5 inches wide, steel wheel flanges, bearing, steel axle shaft 4 feet long by 11 inches diameter, seals, r etainers and bolts. All steel parts of the wheel assemblies are machined to size and finish. Work will be performed in the gate storage and repair pits. When a gate is split in two, one leaf goes into the repair pit and the other leaf goes into the stor age pit. Six gates are to be rehabilitated. Work will consist of removing all horizontal and vertical rubber seals (flat and J-seals) and installing new seals. The wheel assemblies are to be removed, disassembled, inspected and rebuilt. Some wheel part s such as seals, retainers, and bolts are to be replaced with new parts. Some parts such as wheel rims may need to be rebuild, may need to be replaced with new, or may be reusable without repair depending on inspection results. The upstream face of the g ate is to be painted with vinyl paint. Existing paint contains lead and must be removed. Fabricate and install some miscellaneous metalwork items on the gates. All work will be performed on the spillway and in the spillway gate repair and storage pits w hich are on the Washington side on the river in Benton County. Time for completion is 180 calendar days. ADMIN INFO: The estimated cost range for this job is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code is 1629 a nd the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 237990. The small business size standard is average annual receipts for the previous three years must not exceed $28,500,000. This procurement is open to both large and small business c oncerns.
