Description
R10 A-76 Trails Study Pre-Solicitation Notice of Representative Trails USDA Forest Service Alaska Region Pre-Solicitation Notice of Representative Trails The Alaska Region of the USDA Forest Service is anticipating the issuance of a solicitation by approximately March, 2004 for the maintenance, reconstruction and construction of approximately 900 miles of National Forest System Trails throughout the Chugach and Tongass National Forests. The Government is issuing this notice to allow interested firms the opportunity to view a representative sample of trails in the field prior to inaccessibility due to winter and inclement weather. Typically, these trails are largely snow-free though October, and sometimes well into November. Trail maintenance work will include, but is not limited to, trail brushing, logging out, maintenance of drainage structures and other constructed features, performed on minimum cyclical schedules determined by the government. Trail reconstruction and construction will include heavy repair, replacement, or new construction of trail or trail constructed features including, but not limited to trail tread, boardwalk, puncheon, bridges, etc. If you?re interested in fulfilling this requirement, you?re strongly encouraged to review the representative trails and work items located on these trails. The representative trails identified in this notice are not all-inclusive of those that may be included in the solicitation, but are intended to provide examples of the geographic, topographic and vegetative trail locations and conditions typical to the Alaska Region. These representative trails include, but are not limited to, examples of Trail Class, varying degree of effort required for task accomplishment, trail conditions and constructed features, and remoteness and mobilization requirements.
