Description

NA The U.S. Army RMAC Natick Contracting Division located in Natick, MA 01760-5011 intends to award a contract to Aerovironment Incorporated, 825 Myrtle Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016 on a basis of other than full and open competition under the authority of FAR S ubpart 6.302-1; only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement, for six (6) Raven Small Unmanned Air Vehicle (SUAVs) units. Aerovironment is the developer and sole distributor of the Raven SUAV. The Raven, t hrough extensive market research, has been determined to be the only SUAV capable of meeting the government's operational needs. Needs such as a flight duration of at least ninety (90) minutes on rechargeable batteries, manual navigation, the capability t o pre-program flights to specific waypoints, ability to be hand-launched without the need of a bungee and/or sling, and a landing ability that will enable it to be recovered safely in small areas. The government is interested in purchasing the Raven SUAV for testing and evaluation purposes, thus the small quantity being ordered. No solicitation document is available for this acquisition. Inquiries in reference to this notice shall be made no later than 1530 hours on Tuesday, 14 October 2003 to the point of contact shown in this notice.
