Description
The National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke (NINDS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) Collaborator to work with NINDS Intramural investigator in the development and commercialization of a kit for the histological diagnosis of primary brain tumor subtypes. NINDS has developed a method of identifying antigens expressed exclusively or greatly enriched in brain tumor cells. Potential Commercial Applications: ?Clinical: histologic diagnosis of primary brain tumor subtypes ?Research: isolation of tumor cells from surgical specimens for use in research studies Main Advantages of Technology/Invention: ?Achieve simple, rapid and accurate diagnosis of primary brain tumor subtype to provide patients with appropriate prognostic information and therapeutic recommendations. ?Enable researchers to efficiently separate tumor cells from the heterogenous population of mixed neoplastic and non-neoplastic cells present in surgical specimens Current State of Development ?Preliminary identification of antigens expressed exclusively on astrocytomas or oligodendrogliomas Further R&D Required: ?Determine antigenic epitopes of brain tumor specific proteins ?Screen Collaborator?s synthetic human antibody phage display library for antibodies to tumor specific antigens ?Evaluate antibodies as diagnostic reagents Submission Dates: ?Letter of interest should be received by Oct. 30, 2003. Proposals will be reviewed in order of receipt. Contact Information: ?Martha T. Lubet, Ph.D. NINDS Technology Transfer by TTB/ NCI Phone: 301-435-3120 E-mail lubetm@mail.nih.gov
