- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Austin Automation Center, Austin, Texas intends to award a sole source contract to Southwestern Bell Company (SBC), 1616 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas 78701 for custom work. Summary Of Work: Currently two legs of the SONET ring run adjacent to each other for approximately 600 lineal feet. The intent of this project is to reduce risk of total system failure due to damage in any single area of the ring by separating the two legs. To accomplish this, a new fiber optic cable will be run via a new and separate route from the southeast building entrance in room 160B (Generator Room) to the PBX room. And, the existing leg that runs from the southeast building entrance in room 160B to the PBX room will be disconnected in place with full capability of future reconnection for system redundancy. This project is a turnkey job to include all necessary work to accomplish the objective, except 4" empty conduit will be furnished and installed by Government under separate contract. All responses from responsible sources will be considered. Responses must include sufficient documentation to allow this office to evaluate the possibility of your firm to submit a valid proposal. The determination to open competition based on responses received is solely within the discretion of the Government. If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis will be published. All responses must be submitted in writing within 5 calendar days of publication of this notice. Written responses can also be faxed to 512/326-6028.
