Description
NAICS Code: 333999 The U.S. EPA NRMRL (National Risk Management Research Laboratory) Systems intends to award a procurement on a sole source basis to GEOPROBE SYSTEMS in Salina, KS for a Geoprobe Model 6610DT under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1. Minimum required specifications are as follows: 1) Stroke - 66 in, 1676 mm; 2) Down Force - 35,000 lb., 160 kN; 3) Retraction Force - 47,000 lb., 214 kN; 4) Hydraulic Flow Rate (system) - 30 gpm, 114 Lpm; 5) Hammer System equivalent to GH40; 6) Engine Power - 54 hp, 40 Kw; 7) Lateral Movement (side-to-side) - 36 in., 914 mm; 8) Foot Travel - 39 in., 991 mm. This direct push unit is capable of installing 2" prepacked wells and monitoring systems that have to be installed through slag and gravel-filled areas under sloshy conditions. The 6610 DT is a tracked unit that can go into areas where a truck cannot travel and can be remotely operated. EPA source research indicates GEOPROBE SYSTEMS is uniquely qualified to meet this requirement since it has the only model which is compatible with EPA's existing field equipment such as a connectivity probe and the membrane interface probe (MIP). This unit is not a request for quotation. However, any firm believing itself capable of meeting EPA requirements may submit technical documentation to establish the potential of complying with the specifications. Such documentation must be submitted to the POC within 15 days of electronic posting of this notice. A determination not to compete the proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement or to proceed on a sole source basis. This acquisition is being processed under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is October 31, 2003.
