Description
The Office of the Director, National Institutes of Health, intends to negotiate with AAAS to increase the number of fellows placed from 6 to 9 under Contract No. NO1-OD-1-2115. The current contract provides a unique opportunity for researchers who are United States Citizens to be introduced to the analysis, development, and implementation of policies that affect the conduct of medical research. The Fellows are also given an opportunity to further develop their understanding of the processes and mechanisms that NIH uses to support, manage, and coordinate research, research training, and communications activities carried out by the agency. Statutory authority: 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. The cited authority is applicable because of the uniqueness of the Fellowship. See Number Note 22.
