Description
The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, in support of Naval Special Warfare, is issuing this Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. NSWC Crane is seeking sources that produce diversionary devices. All interested sources are encouraged to submit company and product literature, references and any other pertinent information for the Government?s evaluation. Include business status (e.g., small business, small disadvantaged business, HUBZone, women-owned, etc.). The diversionary devices need to meet or exceed the following requirements: (1) sound pressures in excess of 175 dB. (2) light intensity greater than 1.5 million candlepower. (3) waterproof up to 66 ft. (4) reliable, durable, and portable. (5) non-lethal. (6) state-of-the-art safety features minimizing serious injury in the case of a malfunction or operator error. (*NOTE: Companies with new technologies closely matching these criteria may also submit a product literature.) Firms having access to demonstrated research and prototyping capabilities are invited to submit literature, not exceeding three pages of text, that describes the general approach, previous related work, and an estimate of overall costs (rough order of magnitude). Testing at the component level to demonstrate design acceptability must be identified. If a production capability is determined to be suitable, a small quantity of prototype units may be procured for testing to evaluate the suitability of this device for the Government?s needs. At the current time, NO FUNDING IS AVAILABLE for contractual efforts. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse companies or entities that submit literature in response to this announcement. Nothing in this announcement c onstitutes an obligation on the part of the U.S. Government. The Government is only seeking possible sources for future needs, if they arise. No solicitation document exists at this time. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED.
