The use of X-Rays by Bomb Technicians is to identify and detect explosive devices hidden in suspect packages. Eigh t by ten inch Polaroid film cassettes are the standard and are readily available to Bomb Technicians. The current method is to attach a multitude of these standard 8 inch by 10 inch film cassettes to a locally fabricated frame that would hold firmly more t han one cassette in order to x-ray large packages. LAPAXA fulfills the need for a mechanical method to gang film cassettes in an easy, modular and functional fashion. LAPAXA is a modular, expandable suitcase multiple film cassette holder, constructed usi ng a metal frame and polyethylene foam materials, for ganging from 2 to 12 each 8 nches x 10 inches x-ray cassettes in various configurations for use in X-Ray examination of suspect packages. This device/frame facilitates set up time and reduce an EOD tec hnician's time on target. The apparatus will be used to x-ray large items where muliple cassettes would be required. Such items are brief cases, large packages, boxes and metal drums. The frame is easy to use and configurable in multiple ways to support cassettes stacked in various orientations: 3 high - two wide; 2 hight - 4 wide; etc. The device is capable of being utilized on uneven terrain. A patent for LAPAXA has been applied for. A development and test report, drawing package and market assesme nt are available for review by interested companies.
