Description

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to award a sole source contract to the Raytheon Company, 2000 East El Segundo Blvd, PO Box 902, El Segundo, CA. 90245-0902 for FY03 & FY04 Full-Rate Production (FRP) of the Advanced Targeting Forward-Looking Infrared (ATFLIR) system for use on the F/A-18 aircraft. The proposed contract will require the production of approximately 92 FRP units, associated spares, special tooling and test equipment, and sustaining engineering support. The contract may also contain an option for FY 05 for approximately 66 units. The procurement will be accomplished via a modification to an existing contract. Raytheon is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the ATFLIR system. As such, Raytheon is the only known source possessing the requisite knowledge, experience, facilities, test equipment, and technical data required to produce ATFLIR FRP units without unacceptable delays in meeting the Navy?s operational requirements.
