- THIS SOLICITATION IS FOR "SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE" NASA/MSFC has a requirement for TWO TYPES OF PRESSURE TRANDUCERS, PART NUMBER ETM-375-50A 20 PIECES, AND PART NUMBER 1PT-1100-1000A 4 PIECES. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from KULITE SEMICONDUCTOR ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS. THESE REQUIRED PRESSURE TRANDUCERS ARE CURRENTLY IN USE AT MARSHALL SPACE FLIGHT CENTER, AND CAN BE INSTALLED WITHOUT MAKING MAJOR MODIFICATIONS TO THE FACILITY; THEREFORE COMPATIBILITY IS ESSENTIAL. SIMILAR ITEMS WILL NOT WORK. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Janet Appleton via e-mail at janet.appleton@msfc.nasa.gov or faxed to number 256-544-6062 no later than 4:30 p.m. local time on October 27, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
