Description

NA The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will issue a request for quotation (RFQ) to procure two Freightliner Business Class M2-112 or EQUAL trucks. This procurement will be made on a brand name or equal basis. A brand name purchase description of an item in th e RFQ reflects the characteristics and level of quality that will satisfy the Government's needs. The salient physical, functional, or performance characteristics that equal trucks must meet are specified in the RFQ. These trucks are being procured at t he request of the Egyptian Army for its use in Cairo, Egypt. The truck manufacturer must be able to maintain, repair, and provide technical support services for its product in Egypt. Offerors are required to identify the Egyptian service facility by prov iding its name, address, a point of contact, and phone number. This information must be provided with your price quotation. A quote that does not provide this information will be disqualified from further consideration for an order. The salient feature s, in part, are: the trucks must be new (reconditioned or rebuilt trucks are not acceptable); Standard Day Cab; Caterpillar C7 250-300HP diesel engine; Eaton Fuller 10-speed transmission; 36,000 GVW; double rear axle; metric instrumentation; rear pintle lu nette type hitch; closed van type box, 15 ft in length by 8 ft in height with lockable rear doors and a side access door. The driver's side in Egypt is the left side (same as in the U.S.) The full salient characteristics are provided in the RFQ. The deli very destination shall be F.O.B, Norfolk, Virginia. The Government of Egypt will provide a freight forwarder from Norfolk that will arrange delivery, at no cost to the contractor, to Egypt. A purchase order will be issued to the responsible contractor su bmitting the lowest priced quotation for the brand name or equal product that meets or exceeds the salient physical, functional, or performance characteristics. The Contracting Officer will evaluate equal products on the basis of information furnished by the offeror or identified in the offer and reasonably available to the Contracting Officer. The tentative date for issuance of the RFQ is November 7, 2003. The tentative date for receipt of quotations is December 1, 2003. The tentative date to issue th e purchase order is December 8, 2003. Firms interested in receiving the request for quotation should fax a written request to Mr. Rick Elder at fax phone number 540-665-4033 or email the request. The request must reference the RFQ number and state the na me of the company, email address, mailing and shipping addresses of the firm, telephone and fax numbers, and the name of the person to receive the RFQ. All requests for the RFQ must be received not later than November 7, 2003. You may submit questions r egarding the salient characteristics or other aspects of the RFQ. Your questions must be in writing and may be faxed or emailed to the attention of Mr. Elder. Answers will be provided to all prospective offerors. It is Department of Defense policy that prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database prior to award of a contract.
